I want to share with you, dear travelers, a detailed guide to Primrose EX.

The reason for working on this guide before other travelers' is simple. Although Primrose EX's banner was released on November 22, 2023, she joined the Chance Encounters banner along with Aedelgard, Sarisa, Yukes, and Tressa EX.

This means that she will be a traveler who will accompany the adventures of many of us much more frequently. Knowing her strengths and capabilities in detail will be helpful to many who have chosen to seek out this traveler again now that she is available on the permanent banner.

This will also change the overall strategy in our reroll guide, as starting a journey in Orsterra will be much easier in the company of Primrose EX.

Let's go into detail with the guide!

Traveler Trailer

Lore

Following Theo's teachings, Primrose learns the trade of apothecary.

Careful. If you haven't played Octopath Traveler I or watched "Primrose the Apotechary - Enchanting Treatment" log, you might find some story spoilers in the following excerpt of this article.

We could certainly talk about Primrose's background as a dancer. However, what is up to us is to share how Prim decided to learn to be an apothecary by Theo's hand.

Without delving too deeply into the subject, those who know about the events behind Octopath Traveler I know that Prim's story begins by searching for those responsible for her father's murder.

This quest takes Primrose to the town of Sunshade, where she is taken by Helgenish and fashioned into a dancer. It's during his time working for the owner of the Sunshade tavern that the events of "Primrose the Apothecary - Enchanting Treatment" take place.

It all begins when we see Helgenish question Prim, who had informed him of how all the dancers and bartenders in the tavern had fallen ill. Also, the disease responsible for this had spread throughout the town, the reason why customers were not coming to the tavern either.

Helgenish entrusts Primrose to do something about it because she looks healthy and without signs of the disease. It is there that Prim decides to go out in search of help and runs into Theo in the streets of the town. She recognizes his job - "Oh, an apothecary... Have you come to help?"

Theo lets Prim know that he is indeed in Sunshade to help, as he has heard that the Shade Fever is very active in the village. The illness causes a high fever but is not serious if you take the right medication and get proper rest. Prim offers her help to Theo. This lets you know that the disease is easily avoidable if you wash your hands properly after touching things and if you avoid sharing dishes or towels in addition to taking care of your interactions with others (sound similar?)

In Theo's eyes, Primrose seemed to understand the hygiene necessary to avoid getting sick, so he gladly accepted the dancer's help. Together they go to where Theo treats some patients and points out the symptoms of the disease, which are redness in the throat and bloodshot eyes. (It is from this moment where we already see Prim with the apothecary's clothes) If both of them showed up, it was necessary to give the patient the medicine that Theo prepared.

Moments after Theo tends to a woman, Prim approaches another sick person and notes the symptoms of the illness, but as she does so she realizes that the man is one of the tavern's regular customers. Primrose is scared when she realizes that this person's heart is beating quickly. Theo mentions that it's strange, but Prim quickly and diligently gives the man the medicine. - "Some medicine... It's bitter but you'll have to bear with it" to which the man replies " -"You say bitter, but... It's so sweet..." before falling asleep.

Prim helps Theo by taking care of the sick.

After Theo points out that the man is sure to be fine, he lets Prim know that he has talent as an Apothecary and to continue trying hard as he had while asking him for help with the other patients. In a scene change to the tavern, we see the customer whom Prim had served thank her for taking care of him while letting Prim know that she is even more in love with her because of this.

Finally, one of the waiters approaches Prim in the company of Yusufa, the only friend Prim had been able to make while working with Helgenish. The waiter lets Prim know that Helgenish has contracted Shade Fever. Although Primrose mentions still having some medicine with her, Yusufa suggests that they should serve him later, since they had customers waiting to be served.

Prim agrees with Yusufa, pointing out that the master would surely be angry if they did not entertain the clients. This leads to the farewell of this little story, showing a dance scene on stage that Prim and Yusufa are a part of.

Seiyū

We know that one of the most careful details in Octopath Traveler: CotC are the characters' voices. The Seiyū who voices Primrose is Hōko Kuwashima. Below I share some of its most famous characters.

Hōko Kuwashima, voice of Primrose

Strengths

  • Few travelers are capable of being considered a better option than Lynette. Primrose EX is one of them. Don't get me wrong, with this I don't mean that Lynette isn't a great help in many extremely difficult encounters. However, Primrose EX has been added to the permanent banner, which means that it is easy to get her to join our party when we start our adventures in Orsterra.

This means that thanks to the great performance of Primrose EX as a buffer, it is not necessary to find another traveler to play this role except in very specific cases.
  • In addition to its large buffer capacity, which allows it to increase the damage of our allies when using axe and lightning attacks, as well as the P. Atk, and E. Atk attributes; Primrose can fill the healer role with great efficiency.

She can do this to such a capacity that unless you need a dedicated healer like Ophilia or you have Rinyuu in your party, there will be no need for another traveler in the party to fill this role most of the time.
  • As if this were not enough, she can apply debuffs to enemies with his multiple lightning attacks and fill our allies' ultimate bar with her skill Shower of Roses, and her ultimate Shower of Primroses, in addition to applying life regeneration and improvement to speed or attack statistics respectively.
  • The icing on the cake is his Quick Wit passive, which allows her to recover 1 BP if Prim EX's BP is 0 after the natural recovery.

Weaknesses

It's hard to think of any weaknesses for Primrose EX when she plays the roles she's capable of with such efficiency. However, I can think of a couple of things.

  • Firstly, the fact that she is an apothecary means that she is not able to use the Brave Fan, an essential weapon for any dancer who is capable of applying buffs to our group.

This weapon increases the duration of buffs granted by the wielder by one turn. If we wanted to increase the duration of Primrose EX's buffs, it would be necessary to take her to AIV and obtain her exclusive accessory, the Rose Sachet. This or equip her with the Maiden's Bell, Hasumi's AIV accessory. Both options are not cheap at all. Learn more about AIV accessories in our updated Tier List on the subject.
  • Second. There are situations where we will need specialists in certain buffs, specific healers, or particular debuffs. In those moments, although Primrose EX may be helpful, you will probably have to give up her place in the group to other travelers. This is quite strange since Prim EX covers her three main roles of buffer, debuffer, and healer tremendously well. However, she is not the indisputable #1 in any of these categories.

Ratings

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★2

The way Prim EX provides utility makes her enter the highest tier of travelers without question.

It is capable of debuffing the attack and elemental attack of enemies and increasing it to our front row. Likewise, you can apply debuffs to defense and elemental defense and increase these as well. This makes it the most complete buffer and debuffer currently with the ability to be useful in any group and encounter.

As if that were not enough, it is also capable of increasing the speed of our front row. Thanks to Shower of Roses, granting Entire Front Row automatic HP regeneration, and filling the Ultimate gauge by 20 at the same time. (Reaches All Allies at Max Boost).

This speed increase is enough for some of the fastest travelers to be able to outspeed the fastest enemies. Her ultimate, Shower of Primroses is also amazing, making the entire front row stronger by raising physical and elemental attacks, applying HP Regen (which stacks) enabling a large amount of passive healing at the end of the turn, and filling the front row's Ultimate bar by 50 %, which is incredibly helpful.

Best Builds

First Build

  • Triple Cleave (Initial)
  • Bolstering Smoke (Initial)
  • Thunderaxe Enhancer II (2★) or Thundering Refrain (2★)

The initial build of Prim EX makes her serve as a breaker/buffer/de-buffer. This fourth breaker role is one that she will not eventually occupy frequently. However, in the initial moments he can do so efficiently thanks to the three axe hits from Triple Cleave and three lightning hits thanks to Thundering Refrain. This last skill will also reduce the enemy's elemental attack by 20%. Thanks to her big SP pool, doing these skills one after another repeatedly is not a problem.

In case breaking shields with lighting or de-buffing E. Atk. isn't necessary, the ideal would be to always use Thunderaxe Enhancer II, which will allow us to buff an ally's Axe and Lightning damage by 15% while filling their ultimate bar by 50%, something extremely useful before reaching the late stage of our adventures and give this buff to multiple travelers at the same time with Shower of Roses and Shower of Primroses.

End Game Build

  • Thunderaxe Enhancer II (2★)
  • Elevating Elixir (All) (3★)
  • Ballad of Thunderbolts (5★)
  • Shower of Roses (5★)

This build allows Primrose EX to keep our party's ultimate bars filled frequently. This situation is quite favorable and enables strategies based on the group's ultimates that without Primrose EX would be difficult to execute.

Additionally, thanks to Elevating Elixir we can increase the attack statistics of the entire front row by 15% while being able to reduce the physical and elemental resistance of enemies by the same amount thanks to Ballad of Thunderbolts.

To all this, we add that thanks to Shower of Roses we can increase the speed of the entire front row (or the entire group if the skill is used maximized), which is very useful against certain particularly fast enemies.

Equipment

Weapon

Fortune Weapon: Not being a damage-focused traveler, it would be best to give Prim an axe focused on maximizing E. Atk. This will make the automatic HP regeneration provided by Shower of Roses and Shower of Primroses more powerful. A weapon like this would be also useful for Alfyn or Sofia EX.

E. Atk Fortune Axe: P. Atk.: 179, P. Def.: -80, E. Atk.: 666, E. Def.: 20, Crit.: 90, HP: -100, SP: 10

Any apothecary with healing abilities will be better off using a fortune axe like this one regardless of the area in which the encounters take place.

Accessories

Awakening Accessory:

Rose Sachet:

  • 20 E.Atk, 20 Spd, 100 SP
  • Extend the duration of augmenting effects granted by Self by 1 turn. (Does not stack).
  • Start of battle: Raise BP recovery amount by 1 (turns: 3). (Does not stack with support skills and equipment effects).
  • AIV Accs. Tier List.

The main reason for equipping Prim EX with its accessory is the passive effect of extending the duration of the buffs granted by the wearer of the Rose Sachet. Not being a dancer prevents him from using the Brave Fan for this purpose. However, as I'll point out later, prioritizing getting your Ultimate to level 10 will take precedence over obtaining this accessory.

Other useful accessories are:

Maiden's Bell:

  • 60 E.Atk, 40 P.Def, 40 Spd
  • Raise Light damage dealt by 15%
  • Extend the duration of augmenting effect granted by self by 1 turn (Does not stack)

The only other accessory in Orsterra with the effect of maximizing the duration of buffs granted by the wearer. Thanks to Hasumi's AIV accessory, Maiden's Bell, Prim EX could obtain this valuable passive in a different way, which could allow us to prioritize getting her ultimate to level 10 instead of seeking to obtain the Rose Sachet.

Awakening Stones

IThanks to the improvement of E. Atk, the HP regeneration effects granted by Prim EX will be more efficient.
IIAccess to another skill slot will allow us to take Primrose EX to execute her primary roles.
IIIPrimrose EX is not characterized by having a high amount of HP. This increase will help Prim EX sustain herself in longer fights.
IVHer accessory, Rose Sachet, is extremely important for Primrose EX to be as efficient as possible. However, I find it important to note that prioritizing getting her Ultimate to level 10 is also significantly useful. This is why while it's important to get the Rose Sachet, I would think about saving it until after maxing out Shower of Primroses.
U10This is an effect that enables many powerful strategies centered around executing multiple ultimates consecutively or in a short period of turns. Thanks to prioritizing U10 before AI we will be able to use these strategies as soon as possible.

Synergies and Comps

Offensive Groups

Thanks to the buffs and debuffs that Primrose EX can apply to the group and enemies, she is an excellent support to accompany groups centered in offensive tactics. Also, thanks to the speed buffs, she can enable amazing strategies around out-speeding our enemies.

Lightning Groups

Since Primrose EX can reduce enemy resistance by 30% on her own, pairing her with attackers capable of dealing damage with this element is a good idea. Good examples would be Cyrus, Therese, or Elvis.

Should You Pull?

Since Primrose EX is now part of the general traveler pool and has been added to Chance Encounters, getting multiple copies of this traveler will become natural over time.

I know there are people who decided to do some pulls on the general banner to get Primrose EX for the first time. This isn't a bad idea if you don't have Lynette, or Rinyuu in your party. If you have travelers capable of filling the roles of buffer, debuffer, and healer, the ideal would be to wait for Primrose EX to appear in your pulls naturally.

The post Octopath Traveler CotC: A4 Accessories Tier List appeared first on DotGG.

]]>
It is a pleasure, dear travelers, to be with you again with one more guide for Octopath Traveler: CotC. This time, we will talk about AIV accessories and their usefulness. Also, we will organize them in a tier list. This will allow us to use our resources more efficiently and be able to choose which of these equipment to prioritize when awakening the different travelers in CotC.

Since many might be hearing about these accessories for the first time, let's start from the beginning.

From Where They Come?

As we can see in the image, Lynette can be awakened four times. In each stage of the first three stages, she gets benefits that make her more powerful and more capable of facing challenging adventures.

AI: Base attributes (Phys. Atk., Phys. Def., Elem. Atk., Elem. Def., Crit, Speed) + 30% (Up to 50)

AII: Battle Skill Slots +1

AIII: Base Attribute (HP) +50% (Up to 1,000).

In this example, Lynette has already been awakened three times. However, what happens if we awaken her a fourth time?

Unlike the first three awakenings, where travelers obtain direct benefits, awakening a traveler on a fourth occasion, each one will give us a unique accessory.

In the case of Lynette's example, it would be Late Mother's Shoes: ·60 E.Atk, 40 P.Def, 40 E.Def ·Raise Fire damage dealt by 15% ·Raise Ice Res. by 10%

As we can see, these accessories grant quite significant stat bonuses and effects, which makes them almost every time the best accessories you could equip to the travelers in your group.

How to Awaken a Traveler?

This is achieved using an object called Awakening Stone, the same as appears in the previous images and which will be specific for each traveler. The way to obtain them is by getting dupes from the desired travelers. - Dupe is a term that refers to a copy of a traveler we already have.

These dupes can be obtained by pulling on the active banners in the Guide section or via the Awakening Shard Exchange.

On the Global server, we can exchange an Awakening Stone from any traveler for 1,000 Awakening Shards. With 6,000 of these shards (6 unwanted or non-priority dupes), we could claim any dupe of a traveler from the Chance Encounters we want. This will let us slowly take many travelers to the AIV, giving us access to the best accessories in Orsterra. This system is also useful for obtaining the dupe necessary to upgrade any Travelers' Ultimate to level 10. You also need a dupe for that. In some cases, it will be a priority to raise the level of the Ult, and in others times to do progressive Awakening as appropriate, either due to the character's power or the usefulness of its accessory.

Obtaining the necessary duplicates to take several travelers to AIV is not easy. This is why a Tier List is relevant since it will allow us to know which Awakening Stones we will want to use to awaken our travelers and which ones we can keep to exchange them for shards and thus get more dupes from travelers that give us the best AIV accessories. Additionally, we would know if it is worth looking for multiple dupes of a traveler when their banner is available.

Examples

Before moving on to the tier list, I would like to give an example of the logic behind this idea.

Millard works well to make this point clear. He is a traveler situated at the bottom of our Tier List of 5* travelers. This means that even if he can help us finish content, having him at A0 is enough, and thinking about taking him to AIII is not a priority.

In the same way, its exclusive AIV accessory, Ritual Equipment, does not provide much utility, which makes taking it to AIV, not something we want to prioritize either.

This makes Millard's Awakening Stone an excellent currency when getting shards and thus being able to claim dupes from other travelers.

Hasumi works to give a second point of view on the matter. She is a traveler who, like Millard, finds herself in a low tier. This makes getting her to AIII a non-priority, but unlike Millard, Hasumi's AIV accessory, Maiden's Bell, is one of the best gear available.

That is why, although taking her to AIII is not a priority, we will not use her Awakening Stone to exchange it for shards, since getting her AIV sooner or later makes the difference in many of the most complicated battles we can face.

Alfyn will help me close the examples.

He is a Tier S character, and his AIV accessory, Dreamer's Medicine Box, is also pretty good. This makes the idea of awakening him whenever possible a good idea since he will be a useful traveler to help us in our content progression, and obtaining his AIV can become a priority if we have enough dupes/shards.

Disclaimer

Having said the above, we proceed to place in the order of priority and usefulness the AIV accessories of all 5* travelers (Let's not forget that on the Global server, there are already AIV accessories for 4* travelers, but we will leave that for a next guide).

This work will have a monthly update so that the most recent travelers added to the banners are always present. In addition to that, we will be able to revalue AIV accessories according to their usefulness in new content.

I want to clarify that this list is based on my opinion and analysis regarding the usefulness and functionalities of each accessory. To this, I add the information I gathered by researching what other veterans who have had many adventures in Orsterra think about 5* travelers' accessories.

The general idea of this work will be to give a guideline that allows you to assess which accessories are a priority to obtain and to consider when facing your greatest challenges.

The available travelers vary from server to server, however, taking into account this work based on the Global server, for new servers like SEA it will be useful to know the value of travelers at a specific moment to plan efficient use of resources in the future.

Ratings by Categories

Each of the accessories has obtained a rank of 1 to 5 stars in X particular areas:

  • Resistance Debuff: Some accessories apply debuffs to enemies. Their power and quality will be ranked in this section.
  • Stats Buffs: The quality of direct improvements to any of the 8 characteristics of travelers granted by the accessories will be valued in this category.
  • Damage Buffs: This refers to the buffs applied by the accessory to the traveler's damage. It goes beyond statistics and refers to damage types.
  • SP Efficiency: Whether one of these accessories improves the SP efficiency of its wearer or its allies is very relevant. A high score in this section means that the accessory will be helpful in long fights and provide support to healers and attackers with high SP consumption skills.
  • Effect: Some accessories grant unique or significant passive or active effects. Their quality will be assessed in this section.

Tier Explanations

Tier S+: Accessories in this tier are above the rest because they provide tremendously significant improvements to the capabilities of their wearer or the group. In addition, they are capable of significantly reducing some enemy resistance and/or have some unique mechanics that are relevant in critical moments. In almost any case, no other accessories can function like any of these accessories better than they would. They are accessories that even though more travelers continue to appear in new banners, which bring more accessories with them, these accessories will continue to be relevant for a long period. Having a member of your group equipped with these accessories in almost any battle is always a good idea.

Tier S: The accessories in this tier are currently very relevant for the most difficult battles. Also, the buffs they grant are very significant in at least one stat, and/or their passive makes them very versatile and unique. In much of the content including endgame, having one of these accessories will make a noticeable difference.

Tier A: In this tier, we find accessories that help travelers perform their work solidly. However, unlike the higher tier, they are somewhat less powerful and are usually used when we do not have any of the accessories from the S+/S tiers and we need a replacement. However, they can provide useful effects or relevant stats buffs, resistance debuffs, or effects.

Tier B: Accessories in this tier will usually be better than the vast majority of accessories that can be found in different ways than awakening a traveler. Nevertheless, they are usually used to fill spots in the equipment that we do not have better ways to fill with other accessories or their use is in a very particular niche.

Tier C: We will use these accessories only when we do not have a better option. Still, they provide some particular improvement or change in statistics that are often useful in particular situations.

Tier D: Normally we will not want to use these accessories. Even in very particular situations, there will be better options. Even some accessories that can be found naturally by progressing through the content are often more useful. The last option and usable only when you have no other choice. The improvement these accessories provide is just better than nothing.

Number 4's Googles

The increase in stats provided by Number 4's Googles is monstrous. Its damage improvement when exploiting enemy weaknesses as well as its effect of extending enfeebling effects is useful in 100% of cases when facing difficult content.

Playwright's Quill

  • 70 P.Atk, 70 E.Atk

Although the increase in Tome damage is irrelevant, 10% additional damage to daggers and 70 extra P. Atk. and E. Atk make this accessory powerful.

The most important feature of this accessory is the passive effect that allows the wearer to start with a full Ulti bar. This exponentially increases farming speed and enables some cheese strategies for many hard encounters.

Airborne Knight's Badge

  • 40 P.Atk, 1000 HP
  • Raise Sword damage dealt by 15%
  • At full HP: Provoke all enemies

Edean/a★★★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★★

For many the best accessory in all of Orsterra. His description leaves little room for doubt.

HP boosts (as well as speed boosts) are highly valued, and an extra 1,000 HP is a LOT. The 40 of P. Atk. and the 15% extra sword damage are an excellent bonus.

Now, what makes this Badge such a valuable item is its passive effect that enables unique strategies for any enemy that may be provoked. It can be used in multiple ways. From travelers like Eltrix, who greatly benefits from the HP bonus to increase the size of her barrier, to evasion-based tanking with characters like Adelle.

Orlea's Pendant

  • 100 E.Atk, 40 E.Def
  • Start of battle: Cause all enemies to combust (turns: 3) Combust: Deal elemental damage and lower Shield Points by 1 at the end of the turn (will not break target).
  • Raise Elem. Atk. of Entire Front Row by 15% when a combusted enemy is present
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Frederican/a★★★★☆★★★★☆n/a★★★★★

An accessory providing a 100-point increase in a stat is not common.

If this is a rare occurrence, the 15% buff to Elem. Atk of the entire front row passively is even more so. The only other way to do something similar is with Eltrix's passive Prestige of the Stormy Seas, and keeping it active is a bit more difficult than simply wearing Orlea's pendant.

This makes this accessory a fundamental piece when our entire front row does elemental damage during the first 3 turns of an encounter and at any other time when we can apply combust to enemies.

Maiden's Bell

  • 60 E.Atk, 40 P.Def, 40 Spd
  • Raise Light damage dealt by 15%
  • Extend the duration of augmenting effect granted by self by 1 turn (Does not stack)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Hasumin/a★★★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★★

There is a fan that grants the same passive effect as Hasumi's accessory (Coveted Brave Fan). However, no buffer in the game is a dancer, and having the possibility of enabling this effect of increasing the duration of the buffs with an accessory frees up the weapon slot, which is extremely functional for many travelers in charge of supporting our group.

In addition to this, as I mentioned previously, increases in HP and speed are tremendously important. In this case, Hasumi's Maiden's Bell grants an additional 40 points to speed which gives us turn order control.

Cait Ecology Records

  • 30 P. Atk, 80 E. Atk, 30 SP
  • Start of battle: Lower Fire Res. of all enemies by 15% (turns: 3)
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Fire Res. by 15% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Molu★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★☆★★★★

There is no more powerful accessory when building a group focused on fire damage.

Let's remember that buffs and debuffs have a cap of 30% depending on the source. The Cait Ecology Records are capable of giving us this 30% debuff to an enemy's fire resistance passively; 15% at the start of the battle, and an additional 15% when breaking enemies.

Finally, 80 extra points to the wearer's elemental damage are difficult to find in other equipment. Added to the slight increase in SP, it is appreciated to have one or two additional activations of important skills at critical moments.

Archeologist's Glove

  • 70 E.Atk, 700 HP
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Wind and Light Res. by 15% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Odette★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★★★

If Molu's Cait Ecology Records are the best accessory for fire teams, Odette's Archeologist's Glove is the best accessory for teams focused on light and wind damage.

Granting an additional 700 HP is something that matches A2's Number 4's Googles, which is already quite significant (and also way easiest to obtain).

The 70 additional E. Atk points are useful for many travelers. This flexibility is what makes these gloves quite a versatile accessory in their particular niche.

Rose Sachet

  • 20 E.Atk, 20 Spd, 100 SP
  • Extend the duration of augmenting effects granted by Self by 1 turn. (Does not stack).
  • Start of battle: Raise BP recovery amount by 1 (turns: 3). (Does not stack with support skills and equipment effects).
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Primrose EXn/a★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

The EX version of Prim never ceases to amaze me. If his skill kit wasn't enough, his AIV accessory is also one of the best in many scenarios.

Grants the same passive as Hasumi's Maiden's Bell, increasing the beneficial effects granted by the wearer by one turn. Although the Rose Sachet only gives us half the speed of the Maiden's Bell, the second passive of the Prim EX accessory is the same as Nona's Large Merchant's Pack, and Rondo's Crest of Ravus, a very useful effect in many concrete strategies.

All this means that the sum of factors makes me place the Rose Sachet in Tier S+ without a doubt.

Mantle of House Shermot

  • 60 E.Atk, 40 Spd, 40 SP
  • Start of battle: Lower Lightning Res. of all enemies by 15% (turns: 3)
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Lightning Res. by 15% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Therese★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★★

Certainly, high-tier AIV accessories that allow us to reduce elemental resistances only reduce 1 or 2 types of damage. Nevertheless, this should not seem like a small thing, since they are extremely important in facilitating tremendously difficult encounters.

Additionally, what pushes them to be in this tier is that each of them grants significant stat bonuses. In the case of the Mantle of House Shermot, 60 of E. Atk. is always appreciated, but the extra 40 SPD is a game-changer. Having access to equipment that helps us with order control is vital in the most challenging moments.

As if that were not enough, Therese's accessory can, just like Molu's accessory does with the fire element, reduce the Lightning resistance of enemies by 30% by combining its two effects, making it a must at the time of facing enemies weak to this element.

Dragon Claw Clasp

  • 40 P. Atk, 60 Crit, 40 SP
  • Start of the battle: Lower Bow Res. of all enemies by 15% (turns: 3)
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Bow Res. by 15% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficienciyEffect
Z'aanta★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Certainly, critical damage is not something highly valued in this type of accessory. However, Dragon Claw Clasp grants a moderate amount of P. Atk. and SP. If one accessory helps us last longer in battle (something that SP bonuses do) prioritizing it will not be a mistake.

This increase in SP is certainly important and the fact that this accessory is capable of reaching the 30% reduction in enemies' Bow resistance by itself makes it, without a doubt, the best accessory for teams focused on damage with this type of weapon.

Tier S

Dreamer's Medicine Box

  • 40 P.Atk, 40 P.Def, 600 HP
  • Raise axe damage by 15%
  • At 75% HP or less: Raise P.Atk by 15%
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Alfynn/a★★★★☆★★★★☆n/a★★★☆

Indeed, activating the effect when you are at 75% or less HP and controlling it is not easy. However, the 15% natural increase in axe damage and the 600 HP are widely noticeable when we have a traveler equipped with this accessory in the group.

Maiden's Pendant

  • 100 E.Atk, 40 Spd
  • Grant automatic revival once per battle (revived at 25% of max HP). (Stacks with battle skills)
  • Raise Lightning Res. by 10%
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Agnesn/a★★★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★☆

Maiden's Pendant is an accessory that could easily be in the top tier. Its effect is something that can change the fate of many difficult encounters. Just as any effect that increases the duration of debuffs or buffs gives us free turns, having "an extra life" allows us new turns that would not be possible without it.

The stats provided by Agnes' accessory are incredible. The amount of E. Atk. It is brutal, and giving us speed, which translates into order control, is highly valuable.

The only slight problem is that when reviving with the passive effect, the equipped character will do so without BPs, the Ult bar empty, and with just a few HPs (if this effect has not stacked with anything), which means that sometimes, This effect may fall slightly short. Don't get me wrong, most of the time it works amazingly, but it is this detail that makes me place it in tier S and not in S+.

Medal of the Knights Ardante

  • 30 P.Atk, 80 E.Atk, 30 SP
  • Start of battle: Impart Self with Elem. Atk. Up 10% (turns: 5)
  • Grant Self automatic HP recovery (amount: 500)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Elizan/a★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★★★★★☆

As I mentioned previously, accessories that make us last longer in battle should be highly valued. This is the case of the Medal of the Knights Ardante. The 500 HP per turn is capable of making a noticeable difference in many moments during the most difficult encounters that we can face.

The increase to E. Atk. is high, and in combination with the increase in SP makes this accessory one of the best when equipping it to any elemental attacker in our group. Also, if we have Elize as backpack support, thanks to her passive Hale Elem. Atk Boost III (At full HP: Impart Paired Allies with Elem. Atk. Up 20%.) the elemental attacker equipped with the Medal and having Eliza as a backpack will be able to have a 30% passive increase to elemental attack.

Sunny Sandals

  • 50 P.Atk, 500 HP, 40 SP
  • Survive an otherwise lethal attack with 1 HP remaining once per battle
  • At full HP: Reduce own damage taken from some attacks by 25% (Does not stack with effects of the same type)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Fiore EXn/a★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★★★★★☆

This accessory is very versatile. Its increases in statistics can be taken advantage of by a large number of travelers.

Its first effect is similar to that granted by Agnes's Maiden's Pendant. The difference is that, in exchange for a chunk of HP, since here the traveler will remain at 1 HP, they will still be alive at a time when he should have fallen in battle, conserving his BPs and the Ult bar.

Her second passive is quite useful for barrier tanks, such as Eltrix.

Love Journal

  • 60 P.Atk, 80 Crit
  • Raise Sword damage dealt by 10%
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Sword Res. by 20% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Joshua★★★★☆★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★

An important accessory for an environment that frequently revolves around warriors.

Although the crit boost isn't very useful, 60 P. Atk boost isn't bad at all. If we add the 10% passive increase to sword damage, it is already a solid accessory.

If we add to this a 20% reduction in the damage resistance of this same weapon when breaking an enemy, the Love Journal becomes an essential part of many plans around encounters where we bring warriors (which on many occasions are the most).

Handmade Picture Book

  • 60 E.Atk, 40 E.Def, 400 HP
  • Raise wind damage dealt by 15%
  • When in the back row: Grant front row automatic SP recovery (amount: 20)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Molrusson/a★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Another accessory that could easily be in the upper tier, but in my metrics, the ability to reduce enemies' resistance to certain types of attacks is something I value slightly more than SP efficiency.

However, in terms of keeping our damage dealers active, the Handmade Picture Book is undoubtedly one of the best options. As I already mentioned, SP efficiency makes us last longer in long battles, which means more chances of emerging victorious.

Furthermore, the fact that this effect is activated in the form of a backpack (being in the back row) allows our attackers to not require accessories that help them be efficient with SP in most cases. This means that they will be able to equip accessories that increase their damage capacity and thus make the entire group more efficient.

Red Hat's Grab

  • 60 P.Atk, 40 E.Def, 40 Crit
  • Raise dagger damage dealt by 15%
  • Start of battle: Lower Phys. Def. of all enemies by 15% (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Nicola★★★★☆★★★★★★★★n/a★★★★☆

Being consistent with my assessment of resistance debuffs, Nicola's Red Hat's Grab could not be below Tier S.

Certainly, the effect applies only at the beginning of combat for 3 turns, but sometimes it is enough to make a big difference in many encounters. Furthermore, it is possible to extend the duration of this effect, which ends up being a key factor.

The damage it increases to dagger users is nothing to sneeze at.

Large Merchant's Pack

  • 80 P.Atk, 30 P.Def, 300 HP
  • Raise Polearm damage dealt by 15%
  • Start of battle: Raise BP recovery amount by 1 (turns: 3). (Does not stack).
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Nonan/a★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★★★

A pretty solid accessory considering the stats it grants in combination with its BP regeneration effect.

It certainly doesn't stack and only applies for the first three turns but I think this time is enough for this effect to make a difference in certain specific strategies.

I placed Nona's Large Merchant's Pack in Tier S above Rondo's Crest of Ravus (both grants almost the same benefits) since the increase in HP (even though it is small) seems more significant to me than the 30 SP that Crest grants.

Blue-Twined Bell Trinket

  • 400 HP, 100 SP
  • When in the back row: Raise Phys. Def. of Paired Ally by 15%
  • Grant automatic SP recovery to the Entire Front Row (amount: 5)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Rinyuun/a★★★★n/a★★★★☆★★★★☆

This accessory might seem slightly inferior to Molrusso's Handmade Picture Book. However, although the SP increase that the Book grants is greater, it requires the bearer to be in the back row.

Unlike what was mentioned, the Blue-Twined Bell Triket grants that small SP recovery regardless of which row the wearer is on. If we add to this the increase of 100 SP directly to the wearer, this gives this accessory certain applications where we could prefer it to the Molrusso one.

The increased defense to the front ally when the bearer of this ally is functioning as a backpack is also something that makes me consider keeping it in Tier S.

Multitalented Maid's Eyeshade

  • 40 P.Atk, 40 E.Atk, 60 Spd
  • When in the back row: Grant Paired Ally automatic HP recovery (amount: 500)
  • Raise Crit. of Paired Ally by 20%
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Sarisan/a★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★☆

Ahead of the comments, I agree that this may be one of the most questioned placements in this Tier List.

However, although the increase to P. Atk, and E. Atk is not that high, and the 20% additional critical damage for the paired ally is not very significant; I consider that the 60 Spd to the wearer in addition to the recovery of 500 HP per turn to the paired ally are undoubtedly two elements that make me want to use this accessory in more than one specific build. Only Therion's AIV accessory, Famous Thief's Lockpick gives the same amount of Spd to a traveler.

Famous Thief's Lockpick

  • 40 P.Atk, 60 Spd, 400 HP
  • Raise Dagger damage dealt by 15%
  • When breaking an enemy, have a high chance to inflict paralysis (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Therionn/a★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★★★

Similar to Sarisa's accessory, the Famous Thief's Lockpick is our best choice if we want to adjust our turn order thanks to the 60 additional points of Spd it grants to the wearer.

We will choose between these two depending on the situation, since the 400 direct HP that Therion's accessory grants could be preferential to the 500 regeneration per turn that Sarisa's accessory grants.

In addition, this accessory grants a little more damage than Sarisa's, so the choice will be a matter of scenarios and specific group builds for particular moments.

Colzione Seal

  • 40 P.Atk, 40 E.Atk, 600 HP
  • Raise Polearm and Wind damage dealt by 15%
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Tressan/a★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★★★

The combination of effects and stats that Tressa's accessory provides makes me consider it a fairly versatile option.

Many travelers benefit from the 600 HP increase in addition to the buff to polearm and wind damage.

They are certainly not very high numbers (except for HP, which 600 is quite considerable), but the ease of obtaining this accessory and its flexibility make me value it above others in lower tiers.

Poysenbalm

  • 100 E.Atk, 40 SP
  • When breaking an enemy, lower their Elem. Def. by 15% (turns: 3) and inflict poison (turns: 3)
TravelerResistance DebuffStats BuffDamage BuffSP EfficiencyEffect
Zenia★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★★

Another of the accessories that I was very close to placing in the upper tier.

The 100 increase to E. Atk is HUGE, and the 40 SP is quite useful when it comes to skills that do a lot of damage.

The effect of reducing elemental resistances in general and not to a specific element or weapon is strong, and the fact that it happens at the moment of the break is even more so, allowing enemies to be nuked much more easily.

Furthermore, if we were to equip this accessory to Zenia herself, thanks to her Knowledge of Toxicology passive, the E. Atk can be increased even further as well as the damage with Dark attacks if an enemy is capable of receiving poison.

Farewell

Phew! One more Tier List that I hope will be beneficial for many travelers, to whom I always thank the feedback they give me through Reddit. Being able to present this list can certainly enlighten new travelers (hi SEA friends!) (and some not-so-new ones) a bit about which accessories are the best for the travelers in our group.

This added to knowing the rankings that I have given to these accessories, gives us a better overview of which we should take into account first when facing our great challenges.

This is just one example of how this work of opinion + statistics can be useful, but in the end, what matters the most is traveling and enjoying the trip regardless of the destination! This will surely make our adventures much more memorable.

See you soon. Thank you for leaving any opinion about this Tier List in the comment section below, or on my Twitter, surely everything will help me to make the next edition of the Tier List much better.

Remember to stop at the gate often. And till then, my friend, farewell; May your travels through Orsterra be marvelous!

Welcome, travelers, to this in-depth guide to Eltrix, Ruler of Grandport and Commander of the Orsterran Navy.

In the following paragraphs, we will go into detail about everything you need to know about this Traveler of Memories. I hope you like this work and thanks to the detailed analysis I can shed some light on a frequently asked question, "Should I or should I not guide for Eltrix?"

Let's get to the topic at hand!

Traveler Trailer

Lore

Eltrix, Ruler of Grandport and Commander of the Orsterran Navy

Careful. If you haven't played the Bestower of Power arc, you might find some story spoilers in the following excerpt of this article.

The ruler overseeing Grandport and aunt of Queen Alaune. She has been estranged from Alaune for a considerable amount of time, primarily because Pardis III's actions led Queen Ulrica, Eltrix's sister, to tragic measures.

Eltrix consistently combats pirate raids targeting Grandport. Many of these pirates end up joining Eltrix due to their admiration for their strength in fighting and leading the Grandport naval force.

Grandport is depicted as possessing a formidable navy, with many former pirates joining due to the country's strength. Nevertheless, in Bestower of Power Chapter 3, King Osred II mentions that "not even Grandport was able to sink [their] fleet" in past conflicts, highlighting the might of the nation of Wold.

She is the maternal aunt to Alaune and Elrica. Initially, her relationship with Alaune lacks warmth due to Eltrix's animosity toward Edoras, represented by Alaune. This dynamic changes when Eltrix witnesses Alaune's determined fight, eventually evolving into the supportive and caring aunt she was meant to be. A flashback reveals Eltrix's failed attempt to save Elrica and Alaune from Pardis's scheme to eliminate them as unworthy heirs by concealing their identities and smuggling them away, an effort thwarted by Ulrica.

In the English version, Eltrix's resentment toward Alaune is pronounced, stemming from her pride rather than solely her grudge against Edoras, as depicted in the original Japanese text.

For generations, Eltrix's family has safeguarded Grandport through their strength, leadership, and trust in allies. Initially dismissive of Alaune's plea for an alliance, Eltrix believes Grandport doesn't require external aid, even setting aside her grudge against Edoras. However, when Pelagia attacks Grandport, Eltrix acknowledges the necessity of outside assistance.

Her hostility toward Alaune primarily revolves around Alaune's position as the queen of Edoras. Although Alaune isn't accountable for her mother's demise, Eltrix sees her as indirectly responsible for "depriving" her of her sister. Her perception changes only after witnessing Alaune defend Grandport.

During Pelagia's attack on Grandport, Eltrix refuses Alaune's aid, partly due to her confidence and partly due to her refusal to accept help from Edoras.

Eltrix's animosity towards Edoras stems from Pardis's actions, which forced her sister into a marriage to protect Grandport, ultimately leading to her sacrifice. She holds significant resentment towards Alaune simply because she is the queen of Edoras, despite knowing Alaune was also a victim of her father's cruelty and is actively reforming her country away from Pardis's influence. Eltrix even initially refuses to aid Tatloch because of her bitterness towards Edoras for taking her sister away. However, witnessing Alaune and the Ringbearer repel Pelagia prompts her to reconsider her stance.

Seiyū

We know that one of the most careful details in Octopath Traveler: CotC are the characters' voices. The Seiyū who voices Eltrix is Yoko Hikasa. Below I share some of its most famous characters.

Yoko Hikasa, voice of Eltrix

Strengths

  • When Eltrix has full HP her capabilities are formidable thanks to his skills: Prestige of the Stormy Seas, Summon Gakko, Summon Wappa, and Darkmoon. This allows Eltrix to increase Phys. Atk and Elem. Atk of the entire front row, in addition to reducing the SP cost of their skills, being self-sustaining in terms of BPs, on top of being able to serve as a breaker without the need to hit enemy weaknesses, which is very valuable coming from a warrior traveler. All this added to having a sword nuke that exploits Dark weakness.
  • The barrier provided by his second passive, Summon Ivri, is HUGE. Certainly, the requirement requires a playstyle that takes this passive into account every turn, but the effort is worth it. This helps you get the most out of the skills mentioned in the previous point during complicated battles.
  • Being able to hit enemies weak to the dark element with sword attacks Shadowy Seaslash, and Darkmoon is valuable. This is something that makes her unique. It certainly requires some support for the damage to be relevant, but it certainly makes a difference in crucial moments.
  • Take Command allows Elxtrix to be useful in times when maintaining the barrier is difficult, provoking all the enemies and buffing the Phys. Atk. of all the front row.

Weaknesses

  • Eltrix is significantly less efficient when its HP is not full. This can be mitigated in several ways but requires support from 1 or 2 group members.
  • In moments where Eltrix could lose HP, the attackers must always act first than the enemy since, if Eltrix lost life, the Phys. and Elem. Atk. buff granted by Prestige of the Stormy Seas would have no effect. Also, Prestige of the Stormy Seas does not apply when Eltrix is in the back row.
  • His Atk stat is low compared to other warriors. This causes its offensive capacity to not be top-tier. However, his P. Atk. It is similar to Richard's. This should make us note that her real role, in addition to being able to tank large amounts of damage when necessary, is buffing and breaking shields.
  • The Summon Ivri passive requirement is somewhat demanding. Having to break a rotation and not use Summon Gakko can complicate things more than necessary. Likewise, certain travelers can help with this. Alfyn is a clear example, but it means having Eltrix always present when putting together a group.

Ratings

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★★★★★☆n/a★★★★☆n/a★★★★3

I have rated its damage with 4.5 and 4 stars respectively. Eltrix is not capable of doing the damage that a nuker does, however, I find it respectable enough to give it those ratings.

Its capacity as a tank is quite high. Certainly many would point out that Gilderoy, an easier traveler to find (to name one example) would do the job better than her. In this case, I differ. A barrier tank has utilities that allow it to mitigate a greater amount of damage than a conventional tank. In the case of Eltrix, if the barrier provided by Summon Ivri is properly timed, she can take the most powerful attacks and still stand, while the same attack for a conventional tank could be too much. A 3,000 HP barrier may be better than a 30% HP buff. It will not always be like this, but it is a matter of circumstances.

The buff granted by Prestige of the Stormy Seas is what makes Eltrix shine. 15% increase to P. and E. Atk plus a 20% reduction to the cost of skills is no small feat. That is why keeping this buff active is not easy. However, at the right times, it is tremendously meaningful.

Covering 3 types of damage and being able to break shields even without hitting weak points as a warrior is something we cannot ignore. 4* seems to me to be the minimum with which I could assess Eltrix's ability to break shields, taking into account its wide coverage.

Best Builds

First Build

  • Swift Sword (Initial)
  • Empowering Shield (Initial)
  • Wild Triple Shadow Impact (1★)

In her early moments, Eltrix plays a support role thanks to her passive Prestige of the Stormy Seas. It will be difficult to maintain the barrier provided by Summon Ivri without Gakko. Nevertheless, two multi-hit attacks plus a personal buff make her easy to use early on and as a traveler per se.

End Game Build

  • Take Command (2★)
  • Summon Gakko (2★)
  • Summon Wappa (4★)
  • Darkmoon (5★)

This build allows Eltrix to play the role of hit-support or hit-support/tank.

It is not very flexible, since, in my opinion, the combination of these four skills allows Eltrix to be an "all-terrain" traveler. She can break four shields regardless of weaknesses, quite useful in practically any situation. Draw aggro from enemies' most powerful attacks and remain standing, giving +15% P. Atk. to the front row. And finally, she can be an off-nuker looking to exploit an enemy's Dark weakness. All this while being able to keep his barrier active every two turns and his BP reserve at a good level thanks to Gakko.

The viable variants if you have not yet managed to get her to A2 would be to cut Darkmoon if the enemies are not weak to Dark, or to cut Wappa if the enemies are weak to Dark and you need a nuker, as long as you do not need to break shields.

Equipment

Weapon

Fortune Weapon:

Most would think of going for a sword focused on P. Atk. However, I think Eltix can get more out of an HP-focused Sword of Fortune. This is because the barrier provided by Ivri will be larger, the damage it will receive will be less and she will be able to act before some enemies, allowing Prestige of the Stormy Seas to be kept active with greater consistency.

HP/P. Atk Fortune Sword: P. Atk.: 374, P. Def.: 20, E. Atk.: 165, E. Def.: -80, Crit.: 90, Spd.: -50, HP: 896, SP: 10

Hell Weapon:

  • For Story Progression: Hollow Series. Good balance of offense and defense.
  • Best for Ivri: The Ruinous Series significantly boosts HP, making the barrier provided by Summon Ivri HUGE.
  • Best for Darkmoon: Stalwart Series. Especially effective for 1-hit damage skills.
  • If you find a wall with Hell Challenges: Try the Abyss Series. Very good for tackling high-difficulty Hell content.
  • When using Eltrix as a support in your group, keep using a Fortune Sword makes Eltrix benefit more from stats rather than pure damage against hellfiends.

Accessories

Awakening Accessory:

Grandport Lord’s Crest: ·60 P.Atk, 800 HP ·Start of battle: Grant Self HP Barrier (potency: 25% of user’s max HP/ does not stack) ·At Full HP: Raise own Phys. Atk. by 10%

Without a doubt, the accessory that Eltrix gives us when we take her to Awakening IV is undoubtedly very valuable and an option that could be considered BiS for her. The 25% barrier is useful before activating Ivri for the first time, and the 800 HP is extremely valuable for the size of the barrier granted by the aforementioned passive skill.

Other useful accessories are:

  • Airborne Knight's Badge: ·40 P.Atk, 1000 HP ·Raise Sword damage dealt by 15% ·At full HP: Provoke all enemies.

Edea's A4. The best accessory in the game for many. 1,000 HP is incredible for Ivri to take advantage of. Free taunt is useful when we want to play a strategy centered around Eltrix, but it will be important to have a group designed for this purpose.

  • Kota’s Right Glove: Start of battle: Raise Phys. Atk by 30% for 3 turns, but lowers SP by 10% every turn for 3 turns.

Kota's is a fairly powerful accessory when buffing a traveler's P. Atk. If we want to use Eltrix as a Dark nuker, it may be interesting to use this glove since its stat increase potentiates the damage done by Darkmoon, since this skill counts as a sword attack, despite exploiting the weakness to Dark.

  • Sunny Sandals: ·50 P.Atk, 500 HP, 40 SP ·Survive an otherwise lethal attack with 1 HP remaining once per battle ·At full HP: Reduce own damage taken from some attacks by 25% (Does not stack with effects of the same type)

Fiore EX’s A4 provides exceptional survivability. In this particular case, besides the 1 HP "extra life", receiving 25% less damage from some attacks helps keep Ivri's barrier up.

Awakening Stones

IIt will increase Eltrix's consistency in its overall performance.
IIWe will have access to your best build. It allows us to add Darkmoon or Wappa, whether we want to deal Dark damage or break shields (since Gakko must always be present).
IIINECESSARY for Eltrix to cover the tank role. This 50% extra HP will make the barrier created by Ivri relevant, allowing us to play around with this passive.
IVIf you can afford to get the Grandport Lord's Crest it will certainly be a valuable accessory for Eltrix. If you have access to any of the other accessories mentioned above, you could choose to level up Grandport's Fury.
U10I would leave the Ultimate upgrade for last. This is because the order of priority for the best functioning of Eltrix is to reach AIII as soon as possible and then look for the Grandport Lord's Crest. However. If you feel comfortable using any other of the 3 accessories beforementioned, you could choose to increase the Ultimate level before reaching AIV

Synergies and Comps

Offensive Groups

Prestige of the Stormy Seas It's a useful passive. Any group of travelers with powerful attackers like A2, Therion, Cyrus, Frederica, or Lars, can take advantage of the buff that this skill grants to P. Atk. and E. Atk. Few travelers can buff both offensive stats while fulfilling Eltrix's roles as a shield breaker and/or front hit-tank. This puts her in a good position for any offensive-focused group.

Alfyn

In addition to what was mentioned above, Alfyn quickly comes to mind thanks to his Pomegranate Panacea. This snack can help speed up the rotation and not have to use Summon Gakko during some turns, which will allow us to keep Ivri's barrier at its maximum while continuing with the role that Eltrix is playing in the specific battle.

Tithi

Likewise, Tithi can grant BP to Eltrix thanks to her Donate BP skill, This saves some Gakko turns, making Eltrix and Tithi a good couple that allows us to easily reach the 30% cap in the increase in offensive statistics while keeping Ivri's barrier up.

Sarisa

Sarisa can be very useful as a backpack support for Eltrix. This is because the Head Maid can increase the P. Atk. of the entire front row passively. This would make the buff to Eltrix's offensive capabilities reach the 30% cap passively.

This would mainly be useful for Darkmoon, which despite calculating damage with a sword attack, exploits Dark weakness.

Healers

Characters who can keep Eltrix's HP at maximum at critical moments when the barrier is about to break or has almost broken are a great help in maintaining the benefits of Eltrix's passive and the rest of her abilities. Rinyuu, Alaune, or Ophilia are good examples.

Should You Pull?

The decision is not as simple as it seems.

If you have a traveler who covers the tank role efficiently, you might consider not looking for Eltrix. However, let us remember that although Eltrix is capable of playing this role efficiently, her main function will be to keep the buff granted by her passive Prestige of the Stormy Seas active for as long as possible while breaking shields thanks to Wappa and/or deals damage with Darkmoon.

She is certainly not an essential traveler. And by this, I mean that her role as a tank, buffer, shield breaker, or nuker, can be covered by other travelers in the most demanding scenarios. However, the versatility of being able to fulfill all of these roles as a warrior is not easy to find.

Consider guiding her if you don't have dedicated travelers to fill any of the roles that Eltrix can fill efficiently.

Don't forget that the barrier provided by Ivri is sometimes more efficient than a dedicated tank with the maximum buff to defensive stats. This can make Eltrix a necessary tank in particular situations.

Think calmly about doing a "pity" for her in the future. Let's remember that as Traveler of Memories, Eltrix can appear by pulling in this type of recurring banner. This would be the best scenario after December 27th, 2023. However, travelers of this type are usually the most powerful in all of Orsterra. If you are going to invest 6,000 rubies, there could be other travelers that can be your priority depending on your current roster.

If you are lucky enough to have Eltrix you will be able to fill many important roles while obtaining more specialized groups of travelers for specific encounters.

Farewell

I hope this hard work is useful to the CotC community that so kindly gives me feedback on Reddit.

Let this be the first of many detailed guides about all the travelers who accompany our trips in Orsterra. I have actively opted for Eltrix. This is because, in my current roster, she would be able to cover many roles that I require while other travelers come to accompany me on my adventures.

See you soon in another guide! Don't forget to check our latest Tier List and our Reroll Guide if you are a new traveler around Orsterra. Thank you for leaving any opinion about this guide in the comment section below, or on my Twitter, surely everything will help me to make the next guide much better. Remember to stop at the gate often. And till then, my friend, farewell; May your travels through Orsterra be marvelous!

Hello, dear travelers. It's a pleasure for me to be writing this Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent Tier List guide to you. With the launch of Octopath Traveler: CotC to the Southeast Asia region, many of you may be visiting Orsterra for the first time and may need some guidance on what the best characters are. Along with the Reroll Guide, hopefully, we can help!

Disclaimer

This work will have a monthly update so that the most recent travelers added to the banners are always present. In addition to that, we will be able to revalue travelers according to their usefulness in new content.

First, I would like to clarify that this list is based on my opinion and analysis regarding the strengths and weaknesses of each of these characters. To this, I add the information I gathered by researching what other veterans who have had many adventures in Orsterra think about 5* travelers.

The general idea of this work will be to give a guideline that allows you to assess which travelers are a priority to obtain, to train first, and to consider when facing your greatest challenges.

The available travelers vary from server to server, however, taking into account this work based on the Global server, for new servers like SEA it will be useful to know the value of travelers at a specific moment to plan efficient use of resources.

Ratings by Categories

Each of the travelers has obtained a rank of 1 to 5 stars in 8 particular areas:

  • Physical Damage: This category includes the Physical ATK, active and passive skills relative to physical damage (self), and all damage that can come from a weapon. This includes critical damage.
  • Elemental Damage: Consider Elemental ATK, active and passive skills relative to elemental damage (self), and all damage from elemental ATK.
  • Tanking: This category takes into account HP, Physical and Elemental DEF, passive and active skills that increase survivability, as well as those that allow you to attract aggro from enemies.
  • Healing: Considers healing ability to allies, including the ability to remove debuffs, and revive travelers fallen in battle.
  • Buffing and Supporting: How good the traveler is applying buffs to allies thus improving their abilities as well as the ability to support during battle. This includes giving SP and BP to allies.
  • Debuffing: This category takes into account whether the traveler can apply debuffs to enemies, weakening them by any means, or otherwise impairing their abilities in battle.
  • Shield Breaking: The grade in this section falls on how good are the traveler's skills that allow breaking shield points, either by multiple hits, burning, direct reduction, etc.
  • Damage Coverage: Consider the number of different types of damage the character can deal to enemies.

Is the sum of these ranks that places the travelers in the rankings of the previously presented tier list. Travelers are not divided by job, which implies that regardless of their role, the sum of ranks represents their ability and versatility in general and non-specific terms.

All units are considered as A4, Lv 100.

Tier Explanations

Tier S+: Travelers in this tier are above the rest in their respective fields. No other traveler can perform the work of any of these characters better than they would. They are travelers that even though more characters continue to appear in new banners they will continue to be relevant for a long period. Having them in your party in almost any battle is a good idea.

Tier S: The characters in this tier are currently very relevant for the most difficult battles. Also, their skill kit makes them very versatile and unique. In much of the content including endgame, their participation in your party will make a noticeable difference.

Tier A: In this tier, we find travelers who perform their work solidly. However, unlike the higher tier, they are somewhat less versatile and are usually required for somewhat more specific occasions or when we do not have any of the travelers from the S+/S tiers and we need a replacement.

Tier B: Travelers in this tier can excel in a particular area, even with a 5* rating, making them very useful at specific times. It will be rare for them to have more than one area in which they excel.

Tier C: They are usually useful at the beginning of our adventures. As we gather a larger group of travelers they begin to fall into the shadow of travelers from the higher tiers. Just like those in tier B, they can be very remarkable in one area, but in this case, they have at least one area in which they are remarkably weak.

Tier D: The abilities of these travelers are often below average. While they may have some niche function, almost any role they might perform can be better done by travelers from the higher tier.

Tier S+

A2

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★n/a★★n/an/a★★★★★★★★☆3

Few are the characters that can cover 3 or more types of damage. A2 has skills that allow her to deal with an absurd amount of Axe, Dagger, and Sword damage.

She certainly doesn't have any elemental property attacks. Nevertheless, a PATK of 439 (+50), the highest among thieves more than makes up for it.

The main reason she's in the highest tier is a characteristic it shares with Therion. Both can use their skills twice. 3* Passive "Animus Might": While in Berserk Mode, damaging abilities are used a second time in a row (the follow-up attack will not consume SP). This lets A2 hit like a truck.

If that were not enough, having skills that hit 3 times without the need to boost them, in combination with her passive, makes A2 able to hit 6 times with any of these three weapon types, making her an excellent shield breaker. Finally, her ultimate, in addition to a large amount of damage, inflicts 15% Def Down for 2 turns, which means one of the most powerful debuffs to this stat.

Fiore Ex

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★n/a★★★★★n/an/a★★★★★★★1

Fiore has arrived in her summer version. This EX variant is one of the most recent units and is undoubtedly here to stay.

The proof of this is that even in the JP version of CotC where the content is ahead, Fiore EX is still one of the two best tanks.

The reason for this is that she can redirect all attacks with a single target back to herself, which makes our healers' job much easier. This complements it very well with her ability to negate attacks directed towards her, counterattacking with fan damage and inflicting burning on the enemy (which translates to basically zero damage).

Having Fiore EX in your party in any endgame battle increases your chances of survival exponentially. Also, her fan physical damage is quite high, and while she competes with Herminia, we're going to prefer Fiore EX on certain occasions.

Primrose EX

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★2

One of the last two travelers to arrive is also one of the best inclusions your group could have. Well, the reality is that Primrose is already an old acquaintance, but the way its EX version provides utility makes it enter the highest tier without question.

Thanks to Shower of Roses, granting Entire Front Row automatic HP regeneration, and filling the Ultimate gauge by 20% at the same time.

Richard

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★n/a★★★★★★★★★☆★★★2

Richard is a great character when it comes to dealing sword damage to the enemies. However, what makes him a formidable traveler is his amazing buffing and debuffing capabilities.

Thanks to Torrent Formation he can impart the entire front row with Phys. Atk. Up 20% and rise Sword and Spear damage by 20% (2-5 turns). This buff is more powerful than many of the buffs that other travelers can give our party when it comes to boosting our damage.

His A King's Pride passive will increase an additional 15% to the front row's Physical attack, sword, and spear damage while he is at full HP. And that's not all, his ultimate deals a lot of damage while applying the same buff as A King's Pride. This means buffs in his active skills, passive, and ultimate, which makes him an incredible ally when setting up nukes against very powerful enemies.

If we add to this that he also has the possibility of applying speed and ATK debuffs, Richard is undoubtedly one of the best travelers in CotC.

Rinyuu

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★3

The best support cleric. Period. The global server waited for this traveler for a long time. Let's hope SEA doesn't have to wait that long. Available globally since October, Rinyuu is here to stay.

We can define it as the best backpack in the game. Thanks to his two passive abilities, Rinyuu grants SP recovery to his paired ally and reduces the SP consumption of the entire front row by 10% simply by being in the back row.

Gracious Prayer and Crusader's Prayer are fantastic skills. Both make Rinyuu go into "praying mode". This means that if Rinyuu performs any action, runs out of SP, or is knocked out of combat, the skill will stop having an effect, but as long as this does not happen she can give all allies HP regen, Phys. Def, Elem. Def., Phys. Atk., and Elem. Atk buffs (+ some status immunities).

Rinyuu is the ultimate support unit for travelers like EX Fiore, she fits any party well and she can deliver.

Roland

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★n/a★★★★★★★★★★★★☆2

As part of the collaboration with Triangle Strategy, another incredible RPG from Square Enix, Roland fills a niche role. However, in this role, no one surpasses him.

His job is to reduce the Polearm Res. of the enemies. He can do this in multiple ways thanks to his passive Master Cavalryman, and his skills Defortifying Spice, Rush, and his ultimate Four Dragons. This makes Roland incredibly effective when needed. He also has multiple debuffs to the Phys. Def. and damage increases to polearm users.

It certainly won't do the damage of Krauser or W'Ludai, but it's not far off. In addition, it is the fastest of all merchants. Without a doubt a fundamental piece that will make a difference when the time calls for him.

Therion

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★★n/an/a★★★★★★★★☆2

I've mentioned above why Therion and A2 share honors in the highest tier. His 3* passive is tremendously powerful. Divine Feat: When using Boost MAX on an ability, that ability is used a second time in a row.

This transforms Therion into a battering ram capable of maxing out the damage cap relatively easily. If we add to this that he has the highest speed stat in CotC, we undoubtedly have a character that hits like a truck at the speed of a racing car.

It's a great option for daily farming. He's able to sustain himself by recovering HP and SP on his own, and he's also excellent at breaking shields, even if the enemies are not weak to its cover. Certainly, a traveler who's useful in our group today and in the long term.

Tier S

Alaune

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★3

Princess Alaune could easily be in the top tier, but I've decided to keep the S+ slots for a small number of travelers, making that tier a bit more exclusive.

Without a doubt, Alaune is one of the most versatile characters in CotC. Her kit includes offensive, defensive, and support skills. And this does not imply that one of the areas is significantly worse than another. 4.5* in Elemental Damage, 4.5* in healing, and double 4* in Tanking and Shield Breaking.

3 hit Fire and Light AoE attacks. Healing and regeneration for the front row. A single revive that can be used three times. And finally, an ultimate that in addition to healing allies, increases their maximum HP by 25%. Certainly, a princess who will rescue the group on more than one occasion dealing considerable elemental damage at the same time.

Alfyn

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★n/a★★★★☆2

One of my favorite travelers. The pomegranate boy.

Undoubtedly his most important skill is Pomegranate Panacea: Restore BP of Entire Front Row (amount: 1-4 based on Boost Lv.), but delay actions during turn. *Can be used 2 times per battle.

Thanks to this snack Alfyn abilitates many other travelers which lets us set up many of the most powerful turns against difficult enemies. He also works as an off-healer by having the ability to give HP regeneration to the front row. All this without forgetting that his capabilities as a breaker for Axe and Ice coverage, and his durability in battle are above average.

A traveler who undoubtedly enables many of the most valuable strategies for hard content in CotC. "The strongest attackers in this game reach their maximum potential thanks to a pomegranate."

Auguste

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★★★★★★★★★☆3

Something that undoubtedly makes Auguste stand out is his very peculiar kit of skills. He has good coverage being able to deal dagger, tome, and dark damage. Also, Auguste can self-sustain his BP when attacking with a dagger or tome thanks to his passive Unbridled Passion that changes and improves some of his skills.

Auguste is also able to lower dagger resist, which makes him great in combination with A2 and Therion. While we haven't mentioned the accessories we get from Awakening IV a traveler, the Playwright's Quill we get from Auguste is certainly formidable allowing a traveler to start the battle with a full ultimate bar.

Although in the long term, Auguste can be substituted for newer travelers in his role, he is still useful doing a good job when he's needed. A solid character overall.

Cyrus

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★n/an/an/a★★★★4

Cyrus is in some way a traveler that presents certain parallels with A2. Just as the aforementioned traveler has ample coverage in terms of physical damage, Cyrus is currently the character with the highest coverage for elemental damage in CotC. This is thanks to how he's capable of dealing Fire, Ice, and Lightning damage (+Tome).

Cyrus isn't higher in the tier because he doesn't contribute much outside of damage, but what more can we ask for an elemental nuker? Some travelers are considered "The best Ice attacker", "The best Wind attacker", etc., but Cyrus is simply "The best scholar", period.

His EATK is the highest in CotC, which makes him the best traveler when it comes to raw damage from Ice and Lightning (and even Tome). His multi-hit skills allow him to bypass the hit damage cap with relative ease. In addition, he is a great farmer thanks to his powerful AoE skills.

Although in the long run in JP, certain travelers who have not yet reached our lands can replace Cyrus at times when a lot of specialization is required, Cyrus will remain in force for a long, long time.

Frederica

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★n/a★★★★★★★★2

Roland and Frederica from the Triangle Strategy collaboration received buffs when they reached the global server due to their low popularity and efficiency on the Japanese server.

This is certainly notable since Frederica is the most powerful fire attacker in Orsterra. The damage dealt by Eruption or Sunfall is tremendous. Also, she is the only traveler capable of directly increasing the fire damage of other allies thanks to her skill Enchanting Spice.

If we add to this the effect of his passive Magic Ablaze, which increases the Elem. Atk. of the entire front row, if a burning enemy is present, we have in Frederica an erupting volcano that also empowers many group builds that undoubtedly appreciate having her for company.

Herminia

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★★★n/a★★★★★★★★★☆3

Probably the best of the 3 characters that were present in the "Champions" banner. Auguste certainly has an attractive kit, and while in Herminia's case, her role is somewhat more specific as a breaker, she does this job excellently and with ample coverage.

She features three 4 hit attacks for her three damage types: Bow, Fan, and Light. Her ATK stat is quite high, 2nd highest among hunters, only behind Kersjes.

She maintains a longevity similar to that of Auguste. That is to say, although, in the long run, she can be replaced at certain specific moments, a traveler with such wide coverage and multi-hit skills for each damage type will always be useful and good to have in almost every fight.

Lars

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★n/an/a★★★★★★★☆2

Lars is a physical damage nuker capable of dealing tremendous amounts of damage with his single target, random target, and AoE sword skills.

He has one of the highest ATK stats in CotC, including all jobs (he's second only to Olberic and Kersjes). In addition to this, he shares with Z'aanta the characteristic of having a 5-hit non-boosted attack, making him an excellent breaker.

His participation in various cups such as Yan Long, Glossom, Varkyn, Yuunie (all weak to swords), etc., makes him incredibly useful for these matchups where we can get new travelers and thus increase our roster.

An added plus is that he is a very good addition to wind-focused teams thanks to the fact that his skill Gleaming Gale reduces the resistances of all enemies to that element by 10%.

It's hard to place warriors in the highest tiers unless they're extraordinarily versatile and/or relevant as there are so many of them. Nevertheless, reaching Tier S means they are solid enough to stay the least in the current meta for a moderate time.

Lynette

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★n/a★★★★★★★★★★★★2

I think I had been very harsh with a traveler who had chosen me as a companion since my first days in Orsterra. Lynette is without a doubt the 5* traveler who has appeared in my pulls the most times and I value her highly.

However, in the latest version of this Tier List, I positioned it in Tier A. I have decided to raise it one tier due to its popularity as a target when rerolling.

What makes her a highly sought-after traveler at the beginning of Orsterra's journeys is her quality as a buffer, which allows her to fit into practically any team comp in the end game without a problem. She can easily be the first to act on your team allowing her to buff, debuff, or shave shields with Fire AOE skills.

Her 3* skill Masterful Cheer III and its ultimate Child of the Dance are what make her shine. The first skill increases the Phys. Atk, and the Elem. Atk at 20% (the highest amount possible in a skill that affects the entire front row in both characteristics). The ultimate increases these same stats + the speed, and this stacks with buffs from regular skills, making Lynette an extremely versatile dancer who will accompany many from their first days and for a long time in their battles.

Ophilia

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★n/a★★★★2

Some other characters in the S+ and S tiers are indeed able to heal our allies despite not being clerics. They do the job when we need versatility. However, when the occasion demands a dedicated healer 100% to this task, Ophilia is undoubtedly the best option.

Even in the JP version, Ophilia is still considered one of the best-dedicate healers in the game. She has a large amount of SP making the task of supporting and healing our group an easy task.

She can heal with great power, grant HP regeneration, increase physical and magical defenses as well, and remove debuffs. Without a doubt, Ophilia has everything necessary to take care of the group. And she could not miss the ability to revive fallen allies, either individually, or all the fallen if we use her ultimate Aelfric's Affection.

The icing on the cake is that thanks to one of her passives, he can automatically revive when she falls for the first time in battle. If I open up an extra slot in the S+ Tier, Ophilia would probably be the one to fill it.

Rondo

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★n/a★★n/a★★★★2

Rondo made a lot of noise when he arrived thanks to his ultimate. Aelfric's Judgement is amazing. The sword and light damage is super powerful, but the fact that he gains a buff called Secred Flame Blessing which allows Rondo to recover 3 BP per turn for 4 turns makes him contend for the best ultimate skill in CotC.

If we add to this that he can recover HP and SP with his other skills, we can say that Rondo is an auto-sustainable warrior, capable of spamming sword and light damage, making him deserve this place in Tier S. However, we have to treat warriors carefully. Many very good warriors will be arriving soon, and Rondo may start becoming replaceable in a not-so-long period.

Don't get me wrong. Rondo can deal considerable amounts of hybrid damage, and he also has a 5-hit AoE attack which undoubtedly makes him a good breaker. He is also extremely valuable in certain compositions. His moment as one of the best warriors in CotC will depend on how quickly the travelers who compete with him for the role he plays in our group arrive.

Sarisa

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★☆2

Sarisa is undoubtedly one of those travelers who have surprised many by being much more useful and efficient than they might initially seem.

Flameblade Scheme is a debuff that stacks with other debuffs, reducing sword, dagger, and fire resistances. Additionally, Sarisa moves to the back row after this, allowing her three passives to come into play.

Similarly to Rinyuu it provides backpack support, granting automatic SP recovery and increased Phys Atk. to the ally in front of her. This makes Sarisa a great nuker partner.

Her Ultimate Heavenly Gift reduces five shields even if the enemy has no weakness to daggers and makes Sarisa immediately move to the back row. All of this together makes Sarisa the best support thief that our group can have.

Sofia EX

★★★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★☆2

Using a term I mentioned earlier in this article, Sofia EX is the best wind attacker in CotC. Odette certainly comes into play and in terms of offensive capabilities they are similar.

However, what makes Sofia EX stand out in my opinion is that she is also very flexible and versatile. She can increase allies' stats, as well as Ice and Wind resistances by 20% and heal HP and SP and the same time thanks to her Marine Wisdom passive.

All this is in addition to being able to grant HP regeneration if necessary. Odette is an amazing traveler thanks to her dual coverage of Light and Wind, but if we need to focus on a wind nuker without losing versatility, Sofia EX would be my choice (and without a doubt, both travelers work wonderfully together on wind teams!)

Tithi

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★☆2

Tithi is the second dancer on this list of Tier S+ and S. And although she competes strongly with Eleonora and Lynette for a position in Tier S, certainly her role in the group, which is quite particular, made me choose her over Eleonora for this spot.

This dancer is an amazing support, one of the best in CotC. TT can reach the 30% cap of physical and magical attack debuff for all enemies alone. She can also reach this cap for physical and magical attack buffs for our front row. This is thanks to the fact that her skills stack.

Undoubtedly a characteristic that makes it unique and that, just like the most powerful dancers, enables very particular strategies capable of finishing off the most powerful enemies in a way that would be impossible without her.

Another reason why I put her in this position above Eleonora (for a close margin), is that it seems to me that the passage of time suits her better. In other words, despite the arrival of new travelers, TT remains more relevant for the content that will gradually arrive.

Her ultimate Thunder God's Cessation and her skill General's March give 1 BP to our front row (plus dealing damage / and buffing our party), and even if she doesn't stand out for doing a lot of damage, she is a very good breaker thanks to her 4 and 3 multi-hit fan and lightning attacks. All this makes her seem like a dancer of great capacity and with significant longevity.

W'ludai

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★☆★★★★★★☆n/an/a★★★★★★2

It might be slightly controversial to place W'ludai above Krauser. However, while Krauser has higher damage potential than W'ludai, it's the latter that certainly excels in a greater number of areas than Krauser.

Both are good breakers, and W'ludai's damage capacity with the spear is not negligible she was the most powerful user of this weapon until the arrival of Krauser. But if we talk about survivability, W'ludai is undoubtedly much better.

Travelers who can self-sustain in battle are much more valuable in my opinion. W'ludai can heal herself by using his highest damage-dealing skill. If we combine this with any source of HP regeneration W'ludai will stay on her feet dealing damage almost indefinitely.

If we add this ultimate Hydra Pierce, the only ability in the game capable of hitting up to 8 times, which combines amazingly well with Javaline Rush (which deals spear damage at the start of each turn) we can do 9 spear hits in a single turn!

This girl is a bit SP thirsty, but having an SP battery and/or her A4 accessory W'ludai's Satchel helps with this. A tight decision for the spot in the top tiers, but without a doubt, W'ludai deserves the title of the best merchant in CotC. Over time, swords end up being the meta, but when spears are necessary, having W'ludai will always come in handy.

Zenia

Physical DamageElemental DamageTankingHealingBuffing and SupportingDebuffingShield BreakingDamage Coverage
★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★★★★☆★★★★★★★★☆

The best attacker specializing in the dark element arrived last October. We can say that it is the dark version of Hayes with certain improvements.

Black Heart Inhibitor it's a very powerful skill. A priority attack that hits four times for dark damage in addition to reducing Elem. Def. of the enemy.

Speaking of A4 accessories again, Poysenbalm, Zenia's accessory is certainly one you shouldn't pass up as it lowers Elem Def. and inflicts poison when breaking an enemy. This activates Zenia's passive Knowledge of Toxicology, which buffs paired allies with Elem. Atk. Up 30% and raise Dark damage dealt by 30% when a poisoned enemy is present, making Zenia (or the equipped traveler) and her column ally incredibly powerful.

With the ability to efficiently reduce the shields of multiple enemies weak to darkness, while empowering teams focused on Elemental Damage, Zenia closes our Tier S list.

Farewell

It's been hard work, but I hope this tier list is helpful to the entire community. Being able to present this list can certainly enlighten new travelers (and some not-so-new ones) a bit about which characters will last over time or are extremely good in the present.

This added to knowing the rankings that I have given to these travelers, gives us a better overview of who we should take into account first when facing our great challenges.

However, this does not mean that lower-tier travelers cannot cast extraordinary roles at opportune moments. Gilderoy for example is a great tank, and Scarecrow works amazing as a breaker.

This is just one example of how this work of opinion + statistics can be useful, but in the end, what matters the most is traveling in the company of the group that makes our adventures much more memorable.

It's a pleasure to be writing this Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent reroll guide to you, dear travelers.

With the launch of Octopath Traveler: CotC to the Southeast Asia region, many of you may be visiting Orsterra for the first time. When someone decided to embark on this journey, the first steps can take two different ways:

  1. Just enjoy the adventures that await ahead and get carried away by the wind.
  2. Prepare as much as possible, calculating each step and making the beginning of the trip easier.

Although neither of the two decisions is better or worse than the other, it's fully respectable that some decide to take some time before starting to leave accompanied by the best possible group of travelers.

If you have decided to take this preparation time, in conjunction with our 5★ Travelers Tier List, this guide is for you!

Rerolling Definition and Meaning

It's clear that without a doubt, many travelers who begin their journey through Orsterra are undoubtedly already experienced explorers in other worlds and know what it means to reroll.

However, for many others, CotC may be their first adventure. That is why we must start with a brief explanation of what this means.

  • Reroll: Rerolling is the process of restarting your account repeatedly. This is with the intention that you can get a relevant number of high-value characters as soon as possible. Always prioritizing getting the ones that will make the start of the game easier for you.

Steps for Rerolling in CotC

Step 1

Start the game without connecting it to any social network or the Square Enix Bridge. At the beginning of our adventure, we will immediately receive a 5* traveler. It's at this moment that we must make the first decision.

The game will ask us to select between Wealth, Power, or Fame. The greatest relevance of this, is where our adventure will begin.

There are 8 possible options at this first moment, one for each job in the game. 2 travelers associated with Wealth, and 3 associated with Power and Fame:

  • Fiore: Warrior [Fame]
  • Gilderoy: Merchant [Power]
  • Lynette: Dancer [Power]
  • Millard: Cleric [Fame]
  • Scarecrow: Hunter [Fame]
  • Sofia: Scholar [Wealth]
  • Theo: Apothecary [Power]
  • Viola: Thief [Wealth]

Each of these eight characters has its advantages and utilities, but there are 2 that I would recommend as the first traveler in your group: Lynette, and Viola.

Lynette

Lynette is one of the best buffers in the entire game. Even in the endgame, Lynette has her slot locked in our group in the vast majority of fights.

This is because she enables many of the most effective strategies when it comes to optimizing difficult encounters.

I would rate her skill kit in the buffs department at the S+ tier.

This rating is because she has three different types of buffs, all of which stack with each other. Active skills, passive skills, and her ultimate. This in combination with having very good capabilities to debuff and being a fairly good breaker and fire elemental DPS makes her a great first pick for your group.

Viola

Even if nowadays Viola is not a must-have in every endgame fight, she makes almost every story bosses, and early fights much easier and more manageable.

This isn't to say that Viola won't have a part in an endgame group. She is one of the best debuffers in the game and I would put her rating in this department at S+ without a doubt.

Plus, she's pretty good as a breaker. With all this in mind, Viola is an all-terrain character. That is to say, it will never hurt to have her in our group, even in the most difficult fights in the endgame. Unless we seek to optimize a fight where we require a specific traveler for some reason. It's for all this that I consider Viola can be a great first inclusion to your group.

These would be my two main picks for this first step.

Decision

  • If you're looking to be a traveler interested in big boss fights, pushing your group to be strong as possible regardless of the cost and you want a traveler who will stay longer in your groups, Lynette would be your go-to.
  • If you want to speed up the early game, aim to spend little to moderate, and would like to get to the endgame as soon as possible, Viola would be a great choice.

Now, if you'll be a casual traveler but still looking to reroll, I could ad Theo to the equation. He is a solid traveler when it comes to axe DPS and HP regeneration. This could make this reroll step less time-consuming.

If you don't get any of these three characters go to the Menu > select Other > and then return to the Title Screen (you can also restart the game). Then you click on Options > Delete Account > repeat the process until you get what you want.

Step 2

After obtaining the desired traveler in the first step it's now the moment to finish the tutorial. This is quick and shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. Later you will be able to access the general menus of the game.

✉ Check the mail section and make sure you collect all the rubies (premium currency of CotC) in your mailbox. With this, we can go to the Guide section.

Here we can guide new travelers using the rubies in the different available banners.

There are certainly times when it's more convenient to start an adventure in Orsterra. Special events like the recent 1st Anniversary, limited-time banners, collaborations, or Travel Memories can be a fantastic way to strengthen your group.

Nevertheless, to make this guide durable over time, I will focus only on mentioning travelers who are permanently available on Chance Encounters.

The best way to accompany Lynette or Viola would be to look for a couple more 5* travelers. The ideal group would be Lynette/Viola + a nuker + a healer. This core would be solid enough to let us advance without too many complications in our first adventures.

Nukers

It doesn't matter if we choose a magic damage character or a physical damage one. Any of the travelers I'm going to mention here are powerful damage dealers that would be of great help.

Lars

Known in the JP version of CotC as "Wrath", Lars has recently been added to the Chance Encounter banner (from time to time certain travelers are added to this permanent banner).

He is an extremely capable traveler and his ability to deal with physical damage is tremendous. Lars can focus on a single target or multiple enemies, something that makes him very versatile.

Also, he is an excellent breaker thanks to a skill capable of hitting 5 times without the need to boost it. His physical attack stat of 419 (+50) is one of the top three in the game, allowing him to do insane amounts of damage. He makes a very good combination with Lynette or Viola thanks to the buff/debuffs these travelers provide to him or the enemies.

Lars is also useful in some endgame battles shining where sword users are required.

Olberic

Olberic is one of the 8 travelers from Octopath Traveler I.

One of his main characteristics is that in addition to being able to perform sword attacks, he has skills that allow him to make spear attacks. This ability to cover two weapons at the same time makes him very versatile in various battles.

He has many relevant skills. From a powerful sword attack on a single enemy, a spear attack that also allows him to act first the next turn, to a spear attack that hits 3-5 times, which makes him a pretty decent breaker.

As if that were not enough, he can paralyze the rivals, increase his defenses, and thanks to one of his passive abilities, he can cover all the attacks that were directed at the allies of the front line for one turn. This transforms Olberic into a traveler who, in addition to having a high damage output can cover the tank role.

W'Ludai

Certainly, spear travelers aren't known to be damage dealers. W'Ludai gave a new twist to the merchant class that had always been known for their abilities as tanks or support characters.

Her skill kit is very interesting and has very powerful spear attacks, which makes her the most powerful spear DPS traveler in the game (her physical attack is only 5 points below Lars').

Single-target attacks that give her priority, AoE attacks, the ability to blind enemies, a 30% boost to her damage while at full HP, and self regen. All of this combined with an HP stat that beats 99% of other travelers makes W'Ludai a great partner for Lynette or Viola, who will be able to boos her capacities tremendously.

Therion

Travelers like Therion with the ability to do self-sustained DPS are key during hard battles. This is because in many difficult battles, being able to ram the damage cap is the difference between victory and defeat.

Pure and raw DPS. Even though his physical attack doesn't reach the other traveler's stat mentioned above, the amount of times he can attack with his skills is almost unmatched. This is thanks to one of his passives that allows him to use any of its skills a second time in a row when using at least 3 BP (Battle Points) on it.

He has skills that allow him to recover HP and SP. If we add to all this his great speed of 445 (+50) and that he is capable of breaking shields even if the enemies are not weak to daggers or fire, Therion would be another great option to include in your starting group.

Z'aanta

Z'aanta is a very particular hunter. Although this class is characterized by multi-target attacks, Z'aanta has a high-powered single-target bow skill, allowing him to deal massive amounts of damage to specific targets weak to bow when needed.

That doesn't mean Z'aanta can't attack multiple enemies at once. He has a pair of skills that allow him to attack random enemies multiple times in a single turn.

Now, what makes him particularly special is Hägen, his wolf companion. 🐺 Z'aanta can send it into combat and deal damage in the form of dagger attacks to a single target or fan attacks to multiple targets. This breadth of coverage makes Z'aanta and Hägen tremendously versatile. Also, one of his passives increases Hägen's damage by 30% making this duo valuable partners in many encounters.

Cyrus

Cyrus is the last character I will include on this nukers list. He is the only magic damage traveler, but this doesn't mean that spell casters are not good options for our group.

The reason for this is simple. All travelers in CotC are bound to one (or more) element and can deal damage related to this element giving us the necessary cover when it's called for.

Now, unlike the other travelers, Cyrus is the only character who is capable of dealing damage from three different elements, covering Fire, Ice, and Lightning at the same time. Of all the scholars available on this banner, he is the one with the highest Mag (magic attack) stat with an amazing 454 (+50) which does not pale when compared with seasonal exclusive characters.

In addition, he has an incredibly relevant utility at the begging of the game in one of his passives. He can reveal one weak point of our enemies at the start of the battle, which makes many battles simple to complete on the first try. -Peredir, a 4* traveler is valued at the start of the game for this very reason.

Healers

In order to advance without major complications, we will need to keep our group alive. A traveler capable of healing injured members of our group it's a great help.

Ophilia

Ophilia is an amazing traveler when it comes to supporting our group.

She can heal, give hp regen, increase physical and magical defense, and restore any stat debuff to our front row characters. This is without mentioning that she can also revive our allies already fallen in combat.

Many of her skills have these effects in combination, which allows us to have a significantly higher survivability when we have her in our party.

In addition, she can stay in the front row protecting our group without fear thanks to a passive skill that allows Ophilia to revive once per battle with full HP and SP. Undoubtedly one of the best supports in the game even in the most complicated fights.

Alfyn

Apothecary travelers are known to be excellent support characters. While Alfyn isn't a cleric like Ophilia and his healing capabilities are not comparable, his skill kit makes him one of the best characters in the game (he is easily in my top 5, even counting limited banner travelers).

When we think about the strongest travelers, people tend to point to the ones that do the most damage, but the reality is that many of them reach their potential thanks to Alfyn.

This is because Alfyn can offer a pomegranate snack to our allies, recharging the party's BPs, and allowing us to use our travelers' skills in a maximized way consecutively.

I put him in this guide as a healer since, like Ophilia, he can grant HP regen to the front row (increasing fire and ice resistance at the same time). This can be enough at the beginning of the game to survive the first difficult fights. Plus, Alfyn has a skill that revives an ally, and although it will take time to unlock this skill, in combination with the aforementioned regeneration, it makes this apothecary capable of proving the support our group needs in the long run.

Also, compared to other apothecaries, his attack and crit stats are high, allowing us to have a character capable of decent axe and ice damage.

-Note: Just like I mentioned Theo in step one, the process can be shortened if we add some travelers to the equation:

  • DPS: Fiore (high physical damage warrior), H'aanit (AoE damage and excellent shield breaker), and Sofia (Ice nuker).
  • Support: Primrose (amazing enabler for hard fights) Theo (solid regen healer and axe DPS), and Tressa (great utility and tank).

Summary and Step Three

  • In step one we must look for Lynette or Viola. We can add Theo to the equation if we want to shorten the process.
  • Having completed step one, finish the tutorial and use the rubies on the "Chance Encounters" banner to search for: Lars / Olberic / W'Ludai / Therion / Z'aanta / Cyrus + Ophilia / Alfyn.

This will make your party have Lynette or Viola + a nuker + a healer. The combinations are many, however, any of them, even considering the characters that help us shorten the process, is enough to start the journey.

If you are someone who plans to spend money on the trip, a healer or support traveler would not be extremely necessary, and having just Lynette / Viola + a nuker would be enough. Getting some powerful healer or support traveler would be not that hard in the short term.

Now if you are going to spend little or nothing, to get the best possible start, I would stick with my recommendation of Lynette / Viola + Nuker + Healer.

If you will be a casual traveler and still want to reroll, any combination of 2 of all the travelers named in this guide will be more than enough to have a firm footing on your first adventures.

Once you have the desired travelers in your group, is time to go back to the main title screen and bind your account to Square Enix Bridge or a social media account, which will allow you to access your account on other devices and have a backup in case you need it.

Farewell
