What are Heroic Missions?

Heroic missions are missions unlocked upon obtaining 50 sigils. They need to be cleared once per faction, so aim to get at least one leader per faction as you progress through the game. The heroic missions are more difficult than their non-heroic counterparts, often employing a gimmick on the map or featuring an initial push that you need to defend.

Why do Heroic Missions?

Clearing a heroic mission rewards you with 3 tomes of experience for your troops as well as a sigil upon completing it once. You need to clear them 4 more times, each with different leaders from the remaining factions. Upon clearing them, you receive 300 coins for your efforts. It is quite rewarding and will be your main source of income in the end game.

A Fast and ferocious Melee Tank. Sprints ahead to protect slower troops, or defend a far away fight.

Pyromancer

Sometimes you need to light an enemy on fire. She prefers to light them all on fire.

Chain Lightning

Swarmed by Squads of smaller foes? Send a surge of lightning sizzling through several enemies!

Recommended Minis

Darkspear Troll

This headhunter deals massive damage with savage spear throws. Enemies in the air beware!

It can take care of the Gryphon Rider and deal a lot of damage to Hogger. Overall, it's a great mini for backline damage dealing.

Big Bad Voodoo BEST
Regenerate 10% health every second.
Headhunting
On kill, increase Attack and Movement speed by 10%. Stacks to 50%.
Serpent Sting BEST
Gain Poison.

S.A.F.E. Pilot

A flexible Ranged unit. Crash her into enemies or land her behind your Tanks for Area Damage support.

The S.A.F.E. Pilot can quickly deal with the Huntress from the start. Land her near the Huntress, positioning her at the back so she can also target the Warsong Raiders with her normal attack. Additionally, she can be used to clear the Angry Chickens.

Gnomish Cloaking Device BEST
Deploy from the explosion with Stealth and Ambush.
Comin’ In Hot!
Deploy twice as fast and Burn nearby enemies.
Gnomish Muttonizer
Polymorph the first blaster target.

Harpies

A trio of fragile Fliers, but if they can reach their target, they will shred it in seconds.

Harpies can quickly dispatch the Warsong Raiders at the start, provided you deal with the Huntress first. They can also decimate Hogger when he's alone and doesn't have any anti-air support.

Infectious Swipes BEST
Gain Poison.
Trinket Collectors
Gain the Miner trait. Cost increased by 1.
Talon Dive
Deal double damage on 1st attack.

Defias Bandits

Stealthy and weak on their own, but will sneak up and Stun enemies while your damage dealers open fire!

This is good for stunlocking Hogger when there aren't any minions between him and the nearest tower. It prevents him from slamming his mace on your army. Hit him with ranged damage, and he goes down really fast.

Deadly Poison BEST
Gain Poison.
Pick Lock
Earn an extra +2 Gold when opening chests.
Last Resort
On death, Stun the target for 3 seconds.

Stonehoof Tauren

An exceptionally beefy bruiser that will Charge into battle, and even Charge while she’s in battle!

A good tank for any faction if your leader isn't a tank itself. It can target backline minions with ease thanks to its charge ability and can absorb a lot of hits from Hogger.

Pummel
After connecting a charge, Stun the target for 3 seconds.
Momentum BEST
After connecting a charge, immediately charge a second time if possible.
Provoke
After connecting a charge, Taunt nearby enemies.

Quilboar

Surprise your enemies with this Unbound Melee burrower! Slow to emerge but bristling for a fight.

Another unbound mini and tank you can use to divert the attention of the Huntress, Pyromancer, etc., away from your harpies. It's good for distracting Hogger while your army closes the gap.

Bristleback
Deal a small amount of damage to Melee attackers.
Tunnel Vision BEST
Deploy much more quickly.
Bramble Burst
Inflict Poison on nearby enemies when emerging.

How to Clear

Your main goal at the start is to survive the initial push by the Warsong Raiders and Huntress. Land a S.A.F.E. Pilot on the Huntress and eliminate the Warsong Raiders with some flying minis. This should open up the gold mines for mining. Quickly take down the tower to gain closer access to Hogger. He is quite weak and can be defeated even before the next wave of Warsong Raiders and Huntress are ready for another push. You can send Defias Bandits to stun Hogger, preventing him from smashing your army, and then hit him with ranged damage dealers like the Darkspear Troll.
